On Monday, my oldest child turned 11!
And that means I have been a mom for the past 11 years – amazing. Especially since I have never wanted to have children ever since I could remember. Being maternal, cooing over babies and playing with children – all these are just so not me.
And yet, here I am a mother for the past 11 years. Amazing what the Lord can do with you.
I love you son. Thanks for letting me be your mom, imperfections and all.

Serene, you certainly don’t come across as “un-maternal” to me. In fact, with 7, I think you are one of the most courageous mothers I have known!
