Ahhh!!!!

Those who have no help at home but have to handle a baby and a toddler will surely sympathise with me!

Today, I had one of those days with the baby. You know, the kind that has the baby refusing to nap more than 15 to 20 minutes? And then she only does it while nursing? The moment you unlatch her, her eyes pop open real big?

Well, it was one of those days.

And so here I was, trying for the millionth time to get the baby to sleep and she is finally dozing off when I hear a voice going, “Mama, D is very smelly! She pang sai*!” My heart sank…”But she just dozed off!” I was screaming internally.

So I had to unlatch the baby, which of course woke her up, and go wash the bum of the toddler. Meanwhile, the baby was sceraming her lungs out coz she was so very tired and hated being so rudely woken up.

Oh well, yet another day in our home. I shall survive this – I hope!

* pang sai is Hokkien (a Chinese dialect) for moving one’s bowels 🙂

  1. Serene, I can totally empathize with you cos I was in the same situation. My baby was and still is a catnapper and is a very light sleeper. So when my dd gets too excited with her play or calls out to me too loudly and wakes him, I try VERY HARD to remain calm and cool.

  2. Don’t need to have a toddler to have that “waking-up disturbed” moments. Have had too many of those. Kids banging doors (for some reason, the doors in our house seem to be “connected” to the windows which then vibrate-grrr!!!), kids practising on their instruments, kids talking & sharing jokes, kids shouting for towel, or whatever else – like for help with the showerhead….. All of which would wake my little light-sleeper.

Eh, I’m not very successful at putting the baby down, I’m afraid. If it’s me putting baby to sleep, I can almost forget about putting down. ;(

So yeah, I can sooooooooo empathize.

    • I am so, so, so, so, sleep deprived it isn’t even funny! Out of the 7 we have, only 2 have been good nappers/sleepers. #4 and #6. The rest were horrible. The odd numbered ones were the worst! Lol! And of course #7 takes the cake lah!

  3. No, it certainly is NOT funny(!!!). Definitely not this time either. Mine was #1, #3 & #4, leh. No sequence.

who just carried JR for his whole 1 hour afternoon nap. He napped the whole 1hr (yeah, that’s all he napped today) stuck to me. If I were to take him off, he would wake. grr.

  4. My #1 was my worst – probably exacerbated by my lack of mummy experience. And if i had to rank them, it wld be #1 followed by #3.

#2 was my clockwork napper/nurser/sleeper. Friends say tt i’m groaning and moaning with #3 only cos #2 spoiled me. Sigh!
