R : I know what I want for my birthday!
Me : You do? What?
R : Blu-Tac!

Yes we have another low maintenance child 🙂

Today our 5th child turns 5. She has been waiting and waiting for this day patiently. And diligently crossing out the calendar. She had her day finally planned out yesterday.

  1. Breakfast at Mac’s (she likes their hotcakes).
  2. Swim at SAFRA Yishun (coz there’re 2 slides at the pool there).
  3. Dinner at Crystal Jade (coz she just loves their noodles).
  4. And mama’s Brownie for her birthday cake (now that was a pleasant surprise 🙂 )

With every child I learn something new. Thanks to this child, I experienced childbirth in a totally new way. Each child’s birth is memorable and for her birth, I remember how surreal it was to birth in a hospital, on all fours with the dr, 2 midwives and dh watching me. The other 4 births were with another dr, semi-inclined and strapped. This was my 1st birth that I actually felt my body work the wat God had intended. And I like how I was in control. 😀

I loved the way God answered our prayers. (If you read the birth story you’ll see how trivial some of my prayers were!) Best of all is the fact that I did not tear despite having had 4 episiotomies. I was warned by the current dr that I may tear although he would try his best to guard the perinium because a scar tissue (esp one that has been formed 4 times over!) does not have the elasticity of skin. I prayed and prayed and prayed.

God was gracious and He allowed me not to tear. And because I did not tear, the recovery time after this birth was so easy! And so, we were able to move to our new house just 2 days after the birth and I was able to help out in the unpacking even!

This child is also the one that started us co-sleeping 🙂

Before we had her, all our children slept in their own cot and in their own room. But come to our 5th child, we ran out of space and she had to share our room. I guess knowing that mom is in the same room made her very insistent that I must pick her up whenever she stirred. So we sleep trained her – just as we did with tthe other 4 – and it was awful. She would wake up at the same time every nite and cry for more than 1 hr for 10 days! So I gave up and slept with her. She just wanted to sleep with us. She eventually did sleep on her own but I can’t for the life of me remember when or how. I just know that she moved in with her 2 other sisters one or two months before baby #6 was due and that was it!

Ever since then, we have co-slept with our babies 🙂 Learn something new with each child I say. And never say never!

Oh and besides the Blu-Tac we gave her? I also sewed her 2 matching skirts and bags that she asked for. She chose the fabrics herself.

She wanted one in white but we settled for a cream fabric with pretty embroidery. Sorry, can’t see clearly in the photo.

She also wanted a white skirt with flowers. So we settled for this.

She has grown up a lot in the last year and I do believe the Lord has lots in store for her this year. Well, for one she’s doing formal Chinese lessons with her older siblings and loving it 🙂 I pray the Lord’s blessing and protection over her as she walks in His way. And I pray that He will be real to her and that she would be able to hear Him as she has asked for.

  1. Happy Birthday R! 5 is such a lovely age for a little girl.

    And lovely sewing, mummy!

And R’s request for blu-tac really makes me think. Hmm, I feel a post/email coming up.
