…and twins!

I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while but I have had neither the time nor inclination to since I have been erm…busy? ๐Ÿ˜€

So here’s a post on what’s been happening lately in our family.

Ordination

On 1st November 2009, dh was officially ordained as Reverend Henson Lim and promoted to Deputy Senior Pastor ๐Ÿ™‚ We understand that a title is only that and we areย honoured and privileged to be able to serve God. But still is is nice to be acknowledged ๐Ÿ˜€

A Vacation

Infront of our villa with the buggy that all 9 of us piled in to get around.
Infront of our villa with the buggy that all 9 of us piled in to get around.

The last time we took a vacation was in February 2008 to Bintan when our 6th child was 8 months old. The kids had aย great time there. So when we were wondering where to go for aย short family break this time round, they all voted for Bintan hands down ๐Ÿ™‚ So to Bintan we went . We booked a well-stocked 3-room villa through SAFRA. The villa came with 2 single beds,ย 1 queen bed andย 5 extra mattresses thrown in! It fitted all of us very comfortably.

We spent the the entire time either at the beach or by the pool. (And the baby spent all her time nursing – yes at the beach and IN the pool as well! She has returned with a double chin, I say!)The older kids got to play carom, snooker (dh’s favourite game) and wii when the younger ones needed to rest/nap in the afternoon. Now we are all as brown as one can get. Lots of sunblock ensured that no one got burnt.

The best part of it all for me? The BBQ dinner we booked on our last night there. Yummy!!! Everyone had a great time, even the baby. But it was tiring for the 2 adults. Hmmm…when do you think we can get to enjoy a relaxing vacation?!

Clingy Baby

Ah!!! We’ve been at this phase for a while but it seems to be intensifying lately. Probably too much carrying and attention from mama and daddy over the vacation! ๐Ÿ˜€ Most days can feel like they are totally unproductive. As I mentioned to my friend Samย I can only do mindless stuff like watch TV when she’s awake. I can’t read the newspapers/book/mark schoolwork/teach/cook properly since she either wants to be carried or grab whatever’s in my hands to chew it up! ๐Ÿ™ And when I really have to leave her, she screams her head off.

Work is just piling up ๐Ÿ™ No, we wouldn’t be getting an Ergo ๐Ÿ™‚ She just has to learn to be content to sit or play by herself. It is not as if I leave her for hours alone, kwim? It’s just 10-15minutes. Already she’s spoilt by her older siblings (when they are around) and gets to be carried more often than the others had been at her age.

So if you are wondering at the sporadic postings, she’s the reason! ๐Ÿ˜€

Twins

No, no, no. We are not pregnant ๐Ÿ˜€ My brother and sil had their twins 2 weeks ago. A boy and a girl. How cool is that? ๐Ÿ˜Ž And sil is persevering hard this time to make sure her breastfeeding experience is more positive than the last time. The entire family has been roped in to help her. I was sms-ing help on breastfeeding from Bintan! My dad is in-charge of the 2yr old toddler. Mom is the cook and the nighttime help (she sleeps with sil and the twins). My sil? She’s just in-charge of nursing the babies ๐Ÿ˜€

And so that’s what we have been busy with.

  1. Yeah, it’s certainly tough to mark schoolbooks, I’d attest to that! The other mindless thing I do is surf the net. But I can’t do very much else, except maybe bookmark it. *haha* And maybe a few comments and read emails and read blogs. I can’t update my webpages or do the graphics & edit the photos I do for my webpage. Worse yet, I can’t do the photography for the webpages! ;P Yeah, I’m generally very behind, and worse yet, in the end, I don’t feel like doing it already after a long while. ;(

    • She doesn’t let me surf the net unless she’s in the mood for nursing ๐Ÿ™ That’s why I asked you when does it get better coz I just can’t remember! Lol!

  2. Congrats to your dh!

And what a lovely holiday! I shd consider Bintan for a short getaway, maybe next school hol.

As for clingy bb, sorry, no help, trying to get away fr mine, too! lol!

  3. Argh!!! I keep wondering what life will be like if there’s another one (ok, that should be WHEN there’s another one)….. Another homeschooler with 4 just confirmed (trying to convince myself otherwise) that having 4 is not like having 3…. i.e. it is as bad as it seems…. Guess will leave it to GOD. Wouldn’t do this if not for people like you and Angie. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Have already taken your advice and stopped thinking. It’s just a matter of the great big… WHEN!!!!

    • Chern – welcome to the liberation of leaving things to God. We can stop angsting on the what-ifs ๐Ÿ™‚

Ee Lin – thanks! And yes Bintan is our fav place fo the moment. Short travelling time, no time adjustment and fun in the sun! But older kids clamouring for a cooler climate. Told them to save up and pray! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi there

I come into your blog once a while..i must say you really amaze me by how much you can still get done despite so many kids to look after!!

My pastor says it’s biblical – that it get’s easier the more kids u have….I still can’t find such a verse in the Bible!?!

    • Your pastor use what Bible ha? Lol! And how many does he have?

Seriously – some parts get easier and other parts get harder. Yes it is easier coz there are the older ones to help out BUT I also now have more to teach and more to grade. So unless you pack them off to school and tuition/enrichment centres, the workload increases!

And if you kena a clingy baby……..ahh!!!!!!!!
