Is it only our family or do other families struggle with family devotions too?

Hmmm….

Family devotions

Although there has been much improvement over the l-o-n-g years, our attempts at doing a regular family devotions have continued to keep us (Henson and I) humbled.

In other words, we don’t do it regularly nor do we always do it with joy. We used to think that it was hard to do it when the children were young and fidgety and that things would improve when they grew up and matured.

Well, they did grow less fidgety but we were still not doing it with much joy.

Sigh.

Doing Family Devotions in Our Large Family can be a HUGE challenge indeed!

Wide age range

Our challenge, always, is the wide range of ages we have to cater to. Something that is challenging to the older ones flies over the heads of the younger ones, and something interesting to the younger ones is boring to the older ones.

Keep pressing on

But we press on.

If it is any encouragement to you, we go through seasons of doing it consistently (we aim for weekly devotions not daily) and seasons of not doing it at all. People may have high and huge expectations of us since we are a ministry family but sorry to disappoint you, we struggle with family devotions too.

I have written about how we have done it when the children were all littles and then when there were littles and bigs. So I will not repeat myself here. The links are provided below.

I am just grateful that God is merciful!
