Food addictions

Having eczema and being on the GAPS diet has made me very aware of the food addictions many people around me have. Once people hear that we can’t eat breads or noodles or rice, they tend to freak out. ๐Ÿ˜€ They will invariably say, “Oh! I can’t live without my cake/bread/carbs/etc”. According to Dr Natasha […] Read more…

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back?!

Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your […] Read more…

Extended breastfeeding. Finally weaned at 34 months.

Weaned!

Once I couldn’t imagine it but now it has come and passed. I am no longer nursing. The “baby” has weaned at 34 months, just after CNY (January 2012). Can you believe it? I have been nursing since April 1998. Not long but not short either. It has been a wonderful journey. It is nice to have one’s body back to oneself though.  Read more…

Since her main patch is on the […] Read more…

A Breakthrough

I have come to the conclusion that until the internal system is set right nothing topical is going to help. Of course, we still need to moisturise and keep away from obvious triggers like soaps and detergents […] Read more…

Travelling on a restricted diet

When we took our 1st vacation of 2011 at Batam in April, we were blessed by my lovely mother-in-law who cooked several meals worth of food and brought them over via the ferry ride! How blessed Sย is to have grandparents who love her so much that they were willing to inconvenience themselves twice in our […] Read more…

Cooking for an allergic child

One never stops learning. When I was growing up I never cooked anything except instant noodles ๐Ÿ˜€ When I got married I had to learn how to cook rice (and use the washing machine too!). So you can say that I am so not Nigella Lawson ๐Ÿ˜€ Fast forward to today, I not only have […] Read more…

Chinese New Year and GAPS

We survived Christmas on GAPS mostly because we didn’t have any Christmas dinners and parties ๐Ÿ™‚ Well, I did have one with my friends. It was a lunch gathering and I brought my food along. But Chinese New Year is a different ballgame altogether. There will be many visits and lunches and dinners out. Oh […] Read more…

Doing GAPS in Singapore

While reading and reading and reading, I have come to the conclusion that the Gut and Psychology Syndrome(GAPS) diet by Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride made the most sense. So here is my story of doing GAPS in Singapore. What is the GAPS Diet? Here is a great summary of what the GAPS diet is at Sustain […] Read more…
